A statistical model has projected a combined total of 236 points for the Monday night matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. The projection suggests the over will hit 56% of the time in its simulations of the game.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. The latest betting lines list the Cavaliers as 5.5-point favorites. The over/under for the contest is set at 231.5. The model has simulated this specific matchup 10,000 times to generate these figures.
Minnesota enters the game with a 3-0 record. The Timberwolves defeated the Toronto Raptors 117-94 on Sunday. They are 2-0 on the road this season. Cleveland holds a 1-1 record after beating Brooklyn 125-121 on Saturday. The Cavaliers are 1-0 at home in the 2026-27 season.
The statistical model, known as the SportsLine Projection Model, has returned nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on top-rated NBA picks since 2018. It has recorded five consecutive seasons of four-digit profit. The model is currently on a 26-10 run on top-rated spread picks in the NBA since the start of the previous season.
Guard Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable for the Timberwolves due to knee injury management. In three starts this season, Edwards averages 28.7 points, five rebounds, 3.3 assists, and two steals in 31.3 minutes per game. Six Minnesota players currently average at least 12 points.
The Cavaliers are led by guard Donovan Mitchell. In two starts, Mitchell averages 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block in 35.5 minutes per game. The over has hit in each of the last four head-to-head meetings between these two teams. It also has hit in five of Minnesota's last eight games and seven of Cleveland's last ten.
The model indicates that one side of the spread hits over 60% of the time in its simulations. The Timberwolves finished third in the Northwest Division with a 49-33 record last year. The Cavaliers finished second in the Central Division with a 52-30 record last year.
